Thoughts This Thanksgiving

What did I do to deserve today?
The breeze outside coming in
The sun shining
Family togetherness
Quiet, rest, peace
Your sharing of Yourself with me
(that is a gift)

A meal shared
Impromptu music session
Ukulele fail
Reese's peanut butter cups
That silly creation out of wrappers
Not enough room on the couch because all the seats are filled...
but sitting in the middle of it anyway
That you would drive two hours to be with someone
(that is love)

Thank you.

For holding hands

And praying

And remembering

That it wasn't this way a couple times ago

Two hands are missing from the circle

And it hurts

But you don't have to say anything

Just squeeze the hand next to you

(that is knowing)

The way you washed dishes

Scrubbed dirty 'til it was clean

Gave your time

And your heart

Visiting

Laughing...

Way too hard

The hugs

'I love you.'

And goodbyes to keep you until next time

(that is beautiful)
