Seedlings of Stardust

(I guess I should have labeled this post as another photo dump, but oh, well. I've left out lots from this delightful photo-shoot already, or it truly would have been deserving of the title.)

I've been thinking lately about something I think we all fall into at one point or another. Just a little phrase we give our attention, our focus...our future.
Curious?
How many times has this run through your head?

"What if...?"

I don't know about you, but it's been a frequent thought of my mind in the past. What all does that little phrase even mean?

For me as a Christian, it's a matter of putting my trust in the LORD. From a human standpoint, God's leading doesn't always make sense. God calls us to go against the grains of society, and honestly, it can be down-right uncomfortable! Here's where our "What if" comes in--

What if no one understands why I'm doing this?

What if they make fun of me?

What if I have to give up______?

Before we continue with that thread, let's turn our minds to dandelions. (Bear with me, please!) When most people look at a dandelion, we get the typical: is it a weed...or is it a wish?

Children see the dandelion as a wish. A child will pluck a dandelion, close his eyes, and trustingly wish as he blows with all his might. It's a simple thought. The dreams go flying up with the stardust of dandelion seeds.

Now let's think of the weed aspect. Not there one evening, there the next morning: plucky stem reaching high; yellow flower that changes to fluffy down to umbrella-seeds in seemingly moments; then the wind blows and before you know it, you have a bunch of empty stems, just waiting to be cut down.

Back to our "What If". Think of it as the weed. Stem of fear, head of doubt. You're the seed, and you're clinging to the top. But.. what if? What if you let go? What if you let God blow His breath on you and carry you in a whirlwind of a ride you don't know where... What if you trust Him? What if you give Him your dreams, your plans, your life...even this very moment?

As His children, shouldn't we be doing just this?

What if we let go of our what if's and our fears and our doubts? What if we trusted our truest Friend? What if we dug deeply into His Word, and discovered what He really has to say about fear?

"And you are her children, if you do good and do not fear anything that is frightening."
Hebrews 3:6b (emphasis mine)

Remember when the LORD instructed Gideon to pull down the alter and idol of false worship in Judges 6? Verse 27 tells us that he did obey the LORD, but "because he was too afraid of his family and the men of the town to do it by day, he did it by night." Gideon had a good 'what if', we think--What if they kill me?

Just tonight, we read in 2 Chronicles 17 of a man named Jehoshaphat, whose "heart was courageous in the ways of the LORD." (vs. 6a) The rest of the verse tells us that he busied himself with destroying idol worship in Judah.

Those examples to say--It takes COURAGE to do the right thing! But God is faithful to reward those who seek His face (Hebrews 11:6) and to be our strength (Psalm 18:1).

So LET'S let go of the precious what if's. Disentangle ourselves from the spindly fingers of doubt and fear. Let's put our hope in Christ, and let our lives shine His light to a world being choked by weeds.

Blessings & Love,
Georgie Grace
